The show The Discounters was created by Emil Belton, Oskar Belton, and Bruno Alexander. They all composed, directed, and starred in the show. The show’s format is based off Vakkenvuller. The Dutch TV series Vakkenvuller was created by Christian Ulmen and Carsten Kelber.
The first season premiered in 2021 and the show has been popular with the streaming provider since. The model is based on the Dutch series “Vakkenvullers” and has parallels to the popular series “Superstore” and “The Office”. The film genre used in the series is called a mockumentary, where an actual documentary is mocked.
The series adaptation made to promote Amazon Prime was featured in the Amazon top 10 several times. It is now scheduled for an additional season.
