The entire series is based upon a series of books written by British author Holly Smale, who produced six stories of the series that were published between 2013 and 2017. The top-selling titles were produced in the name of HarperCollins as well as translated in more than thirty languages.
Geek Girl tells the story of a neurodiverse teenager Harriet Manners, whose life is thrown off balance when she is spotted and is enticed to the realm of fashion and self-discovery. trying to manage her time between as a high school student as well as her upcoming modeling job.
Waterside Studios, an intellectual property acquisition and production venture founded by producer and writer Jeff Norton, will develop the project with Nelvana which is a producer of content for children. Both are backed by Canadian company Corus Entertainment, which will show Geek Girl on its TV channels.

The shows are reportedly produced by Declan O’Dwyer (‘Miss Scarlet and The Duke’). “Geek Girl” was developed in partnership with RubyRock Pictures. It is a co-production initiative by Waterside Studios (“Save & Protect”) and is directed by producer and writer Jeff Norton, and children’s producer Nelvana. The project is supported by from Corus Entertainment, which will distribute “Geek Girl” in Canada as well as Netflix will take care of distribution throughout the remainder all over the world.
