The series was written with the help of George Lopez, Maya Lopez and Debby Wolfe. The show centers around a working class family that is in a state of turmoil following the bankruptcy of George’s company and he’s forced to move into the house of his daughter.
It reveals the bond between the father (George) and his daughter (Mayan) and, after a few years, reconnect. Mayan lives in a relationship together with Quinten (Matt Shively) who is English-speaking North American, and they have a son named Chance (Brice Gonzalez).
Mayan’s sole Christmas wish is to have his entire family together and he has to persuade his divorcing parents Rosie (Selenis Levya) and George and George to put aside their differences and enjoy Christmas with each other. George’s child also lives in a house that requires repair. This is where he steps to help. George proposes to make improvements to the room, at no cost and with the assistance of his closest buddy Oscar ( Daily Show vet Al Madrigal), but then reveals that he’s in need of funds.

The show’s new version is an unpolished version of the originalhowever, this time the character is George’s Gen Z daughter, Mayan, who has developed a bitter hatred of Dad. He’s a serial cheater that was a cheater with his mom (played by Orange Is the New Black star Selenis Leyva in an upcoming role that I hope will be significantly expanded on) and regularly blows the family’s money on drinking and gambling. Unspecified amounts of time has passed after he destroyed his family’s life, but the daughter is just now beginning to let him return to her life.
