The thriller is about an officer with a high-performance record who receives a punishment post to the fictional Welsh island called St Jory, a rural community with a mysterious secret religion.
Viewers will recognize a lot of the scenery on the island as being part of Northumberland as they follow the main protagonist Sergeant Grace Narayan’s quest to solve the case of a missing teenager and discovers that there’s greater to this island than what is apparent.
The Lazarus Project and Vigil actor Anjli Mohindra who plays Grace the character, stated: “The Red King is an intriguing, thrilling crime drama that is laced with creepy tones. It’s similar to that of the Ari Aster film Midsommer and one of my favorite elements in it is that there’s some psychological thriller and folk horror layer as well.

Intelligent, skilled and a true detective Grace Narayan (Mohindra) was in high spirits as an inner city police sergeant, before being required to serve as a ‘punishment post located on the tiny island, quaint St. Jory. In the wake of the forgotten and unsolved disappearance of teenager Cai, Grace quickly discovers that she has to overcome a lack of evidence, the extraordinary locals and the island’s peculiar legends to discover the truth.
