The Wives is a six-part crime drama that follows the demise of one family through the course of an entire summer that turns the lives of everyone around. The year before four sisters-in-law and their families were able to escape for a holiday in Malta the same way they’ve done been doing every summer for the past fifteen years.
The widower of Annabelle, Charlie who is played by Jamie Bamber ( Strike Back, Cannes Confidential, Battlestar Galactica ) comes back with a new companion, Beth tries to be satisfied for both of them. However, something isn’t right. Charlie’s new partner Jade as played by Katie Clarkson Hill ( Don’t Betrayed Me, Grace, Hanna ), has a striking resemblance to Annabelle. Beth was hoping for a beautiful summer is thrown off by Charlie’s odd behavior that only adds to her suspicions regarding the cause of Annabelle’s murder. There are rumors, evidence is accumulating as the women join together to unravel the mystery and identify the perpetrator.
The scripts are filled with human affection, female friendships, and humor, as well as an extensive police investigation at the heart and the action takes place in Malta. This is a thriller produced by Gaumont in collaboration and Banijay Rights for international distribution.
