Waco: The Aftermath Storyline & Synopsis
Showtime shows on the small screen the tale of religious extremism that caused a bloody conflict between followers of cults as well as the FBI. Naturally, the story is all about the Waco incident of 1993 and the battle between the Sect Davidians and the FBI. Five years ago the adaptation of that real-life story aired on tiny screens with the mini-series Waco and in the near future, the successor Waco: The Aftermath is scheduled to be available on smaller screens.
The limited five-episode series offers a more comprehensive explanation of the rapid growth in the US militia movement that is a precursor to the notorious Oklahoma City attacks. Michael Shannon returns as FBI negotiator Gary Noesner. He is suffering from PTSD following the events of earlier. It is clear of the agitation caused by the events of Waco has created in people and the consequences of it.
David Koresh’s Branch Davidian sect had a commune in Waco. It was involved in a conflict with the authorities, in which the situation got out of control. It culminated in bloodshed and the remaining members of the cult were treated brutally. Many citizens believed it was the state that was being too harsh. This resulted in distrust and anger within the community.
