Cruel Summer Storyline & Synopsis
Cruel Summer is one of the distinct series. The story unfolds in three different seasons. Each episode takes place on the same day multiple times, each time in an entirely different year. The viewers can see the shifts in the timeline as the plot takes on a twist each time. “The series is a psychological thriller which takes place over the course of three years during the 90s. They undergo a series of changes and challenges during their pivotal times,” Aurelia says of Cruel Summer.
A year later, geeky Jeanette is now in Kate’s shoes she even woos Kate’s lover Jamie (Froy Gutierrez). Then Kate reappears as she is said to have been abducted by the deputy principal at her school, Martin Harris (Lee Smith). He was likely to have died in Kate’s release. One year later, things prove to be quite different.
Cruel Summer is a distinct structure because each episode is based on exactly the same date in 1993 1994 and 1995. the entire series is filmed together which means you need to be attentive to make it clear when something happens. When you become familiar with this it becomes more fascinating. The various perspectives of the two main characters, with diverse backgrounds, naturally create the necessary drama however, as the story develops, so does the tension. Particularly when the issue of guilt is addressed and it is left to possibility for the viewer to guess who’s speaking the truth.
