Faraway Downs is a reimagining of Baz Luhrmann’s 2008 film Australia. It is a documentary adaptation of Australia that includes never-before-seen scenes from the film. Lurhmann wrote and directed the series and also served as executive producer along with Catherine Martin, Catherine Knapman, and Shuyler Weiss.
Faraway Downs follows an English Aristocrat Lady Sarah Ashley (Kidman), who travels across the globe to confront her husband’s misbehavior and to sell a unique asset – a million-acre cattle ranch located in the Australian Outback named “Faraway Downs”.
The director’s cut of six episodes is scheduled to premiere in the winter months and will comprise of footage filmed in the production while providing an expanded serialized rendition of the tale. Luhrmann and co. also have plans to release an updated ending and updated soundtrack.
