The King Who Never Was Storyline & Synopsis
An Italian docu-series with three episodes that chronicle the court and personal life that took place in the life of Vittorio Emanuele Savoy the last lineal heir to the throne in Italy. Produced with and directed by Beatrice Borromeo Casiraghi, the series begins with the court case about the murder of young Dirk Hamer, and it then moves on to a more personal story of the main character. The series includes fresh interviews featuring the Prince and never-published statements from family members and journalists as well as witness testimony from the night that was infamously tragic.
The son of Umberto II the final king of our nation and accused of abandoning his people towards the end of the Second World War and for the reason of being exiled along with all his heirs. Vittorio Emanuele is a flamboyant and controversial character, as the series will endeavor to demonstrate the truth: in the three episodes not just personal moments will be portrayed (such as his relationship with Marina Doria, Swiss-Italian water ski champion, or his son’s birth, Emanuele Filiberto) but also diverse episodes that are of a public.
