Lawmen: Bass Reeves Storyline & Synopsis
Bass Reeves was an anomaly within the group of Old West gunslingers. He first left slavery to become his first African-American U.S. deputy marshal to work in areas outside that of the Mississippi River.
Though he made a staggering 3000 arrests during his time and lived to the end of his life, dying from natural causes instead of being killed prematurely by the fire of the barrel of a gun, this legendary story is being portrayed by Lawmen: Bass Reeves, an upcoming series developed by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan.
The show was first revealed two years ago at the time David Oyelowo and Jessica Oyelowo negotiated an exclusive agreement with ViacomCBS along with MTV Entertainment Studios to develop unscripted and scripted programs for the respective companies.
