The Diplomat Storyline & Synopsis
Kate Wyler is the new US ambassador to the United Kingdom. She was to travel to Afghanistan a place of crisis in which she could do well. But now she’s in the middle of a worldwide crisis a historic house where she’s not doing as well. It’s clear that she’s not the right person for the job and this has serious consequences, both for her husband as well as her future as a politician.
She must form alliances to resolve major international conflicts. This is a top-quality modern political drama that examines the power and the insanity of long-standing relations between people and countries. In the meantime, Wyler also has to keep her marriage to her husband and her friend Hal (Rufus Sewell) on the right track.
Kate, Hal, and their staff must get used to the reality that their workplace has changed. Kate is no longer “the wife of’ and has to assume the responsibilities. Hal will, in turn, is able to relax. The couple should therefore not only avoid crises in the international arena, however, but they must also ensure that their boundaries are not eroded. With war on the horizon, Kate must navigate an international crisis, create strategically-sound alliances in London and adapt to her new position on the international stage.
