The inspiration for the series came from Chasing Hillary, a book Chasing Hillary that reporter Amy Chozick wrote based on her experience as a political reporter. The series includes everything needed to be a fun series.
The series of political dramas is an adaptation of the memoir ” Chasing Hillary Chasing Hillary’ written by Amy Chozick. The book describes how she was a follower of the presidential election in 2016 when she was a teen New York Times reporter. She was primarily a follower of candidate Hillary Clinton and accompanied the travels to more than fifty American states. The presidential election and the period between them were crucial in the development of Amy Chozick’s career and personal life.
The show was created by Plec and Chozick and was inspired by Chozick’s own experiences as a journalist on the presidential campaign along with various presidential candidates. The story is centered around Sadie McCarthy (Benoist), a journalist who fantasizes about an era gone by of political reporting. She also rewrites her entire life to have an opportunity to write about a presidential candidate for the newspaper.

However, despite their different opinions, the ladies have become close friends as they sit at the ring and the drama unfolds with the contest to win and the White House.
