A Small Light Storyline & Synopsis
A Small Light tells the amazing account about secretary Miep Gies A Small Light, a youthful and confident woman. Her boss Otto Frank, asks her to protect his family from Nazis in World War II, and Miep accepts the request without hesitation. Over the next two years, she and her brave and loving husband Jan together with a host of other heroes guarded their respective Frank, van Pels, and Pfeffer families that were sheltered within the secret hideout of the Prinsengracht. The documentary reveals the way in which Miep’s life was changed by the moment. That she was the one to say “yes” to Otto Frank. From food runs every day to collecting coupons for rations and selling precious family heirlooms, it was a series of selfless sacrifices.
The series focuses on her extraordinary life during the war that she has to endure with a secret. The show ‘A Small Light’ tells the true and inspiring tale of Miep Gies, who played an important role in the saga of keeping the secret of Anne Frank and her family during the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam. From running errands to asking for food stamps and selling treasured family heirlooms.
To celebrate Miep in what is her birthday, which is 114 years ago. This would have been the day, National Geographic announced that the acclaimed series was created through ABC Signature and Keshet Studios and will air in the fall of 2014 on National Geographic with two back-to-back. In the coming two years she and her courageous and faithful partner Jan (Joe Cole), as well as some other heroes from every day, took care of their families of Frank, van Pels, and Pfeffer families who were hiding within the Secret Annex.
