Based on the visual album with the same name, released by rapper XXXTENTACION in the year 2018, The series tells the story of two families of Afro descent that are confronted with guilt, shame, and the repercussions of the loss of a child triggered by an officer of the police.
In the story two women of color who hail from Rio de Janeiro have their lives intertwined in an investigation by police officers during Mother’s Day. What is supposed to be a time to celebrate turns into an unimaginable tragedy for Rita (Tatiana Tiburcio) when her son of 11 years old, Sushi (Joao Tiburcio) is the victim of a police agent Digao (Maicon Rodrigues) who is the daughter of Edna (Mariana Nunes). .
In their quest for justice, The two women must confront corruption in the police force and the weaknesses of the justice system. While doing so Rita’s son an artist named Sinistro (Breno Ferreira) is arousing members of the Mare community to pursue justice for the death of his brother.
