Anne Story
Anne continued to air on ITV last week. The show follows the moving tale of Anne Williams who is a woman who suffered the death of her son of 15 years Kevin during the Hillsborough tragedy in 1989. Maxine Peake plays the character as Anne Williams who has worked hard to obtain justice for Kevin and others who suffered after they discovered inaccuracies that were reported on what actually happened in Hillsborough. She seeks out the assistance from the community to find answers However, this is a fight that lasts for years since the show spans many years after Kevin’s demise.
Everyone has been raving about Maxine’s performance, with many commenting on the rawness and honesty it feels to watch terrifying moments like finding Kevin’s body using the back of a Polaroid and then visiting Hillsborough the site of Sheffield Wednesday where the incident occurred. Then, Kevin died. Recently, viewers watched the mother in mourning visit Anfield at which point her and the rest of the family began to sing an “Justice for the 96” shout for Andy Burnham, a particularly touching scene that concluded the third part of the show.
