From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke Storyline & Synopsis
Kimi ni Todoke tells the story of Sawako who got the moniker “Sadako,” the ghost from the film The Ring, because of her black hair that was long and pale skin. Despite being teased and ridiculed by her fellow classmates Sawako forged a relationship with Shouta. The manga first came out in 2006 and was completed in 2017 with the completion of 30 volumes. It was also made into an animated series.
A spin-off with subtitles Unmei no Hito ran until 2022 and was collected into three volumes of tankoubon. The manga inspired a second-season anime series, called Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You in English developed through Production I.G and directed by Hiro Kaburagi. The manga has also inspired a live-action adaptation.
Based on the manga romance by Karuho Shiina “Kimi ni Todoke” follows high school student Sawako Kuronuma, who is shunned by her peers due to her resemblance to Sadako. The manga with the same name was written by Karuho Shiina is originally published by Germany via TOKYOPOP under the name Nah in dir. However, Sawako is an unpopular and sensitive teenager looking to meet new friends in her new school.
