Angel City Storyline & Synopsis
The show follows the exploits of the women’s soccer team Angel City and their journey to become a global sensation. Angel City is a gripping documentary that takes place behind the scenes as well as on the pitch of the revolutionary Los Angeles-based women’s football team called Angel City Football Club (ACFC). In September 2020, the ACFC was founded by actress Natalie Portman, venture capitalist Kara Nortman and gaming entrepreneur Julie Uhrman, ACFC breaks the norm by being the most significant women-owned team in professional sports. It also has 14 former US Women’s National Team players as investors.
The first portion will focus on the way women in various industries join together to form a team and contribute to women’s sports. The second section will show the first match of the team as well as the difficult path to becoming an established player in the field of football. The third and final part will examine the challenges in gaining and introducing new players to the team amid a variety of tournaments.
There won’t be a Cinderella conclusion to the tale. Angel City missed the playoff cup in their opening game. They also came at the bottom of the Challenge Cup group. But in spite of the inability to make it on the field, The club has had an impressive start elsewhere. They have been able to draw large crowds and establish a connection with their local community from the beginning. This isn’t an easy feat for any sports team much less one that is a women’s team with the second largest market in the United States.
