Live Countdown (EST)

The Hardacres Season 3 release date

Channel 5 finally announced it. May 19, 2027.

That’s a Wednesday. 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET if you’re watching from North America. UK viewers get the usual 9 p.m. GMT slot. Channel 5 isn’t moving their prestige drama.

Six episodes. Fifty-five minutes each. The full season runs about five and a half hours.

Season 2 left everyone hanging last year. The arrest cliffhanger had people yelling at their tellys. Now we know when answers come.

The Hardacres Season 3 cast

Here’s everyone coming back for Season 3:

  • Claire Cooper — Mary Hardacre
  • Liam McMahon — Sam Hardacre
  • Shannon Lavelle — Liza Hardacre
  • Adam Little — Joe Hardacre
  • Julie Graham — Ma
  • Ingrid Craigie — Mrs. Dryden
  • Zak Ford-Williams — Harry Hardacre
  • Siobhán O’Kelly — Lena Temple
  • Mark Doherty — Beesley
  • Taheen Modak — Callum Saunders

That’s the full family plus the estate staff. Everyone survived Season 2. No major deaths. Yet.

Julie Graham as Ma is the one to watch this season. Her character got sidelined a bit in Season 2. The writers reportedly gave her more to do in Season 3. About time.

Taheen Modak as Callum Saunders is the wild card. His character showed up late in Season 2. Now he’s sticking around. Rumor is he causes trouble between Mary and Sam.

New faces? Channel 5 hasn’t announced any. But the casting call went out months ago for “aristocratic gentleman, 40s-50s” and “mysterious woman, 30s.” Someone new is coming to the estate.

What will The Hardacres Season 3 be about?

The family made it. Left the fish docks. Got the big house in Yorkshire. Everything they wanted.

Season 3 asks the question: now what?

The estate is falling apart. Roof leaks. Bills pile up. The staff doesn’t respect them because they’re not “real” gentry. The neighbors won’t speak to them at dinner parties.

Mary (Claire Cooper) tries to hold everything together. Sam (Liam McMahon) gets distracted by a business opportunity that’s probably a scam. Liza (Shannon Lavelle) falls for someone her parents don’t approve of. Classic stuff but done well.

The big plot this season involves the estate’s finances. Someone’s been stealing from the family. The suspects include Beesley (Mark Doherty) and Mrs. Dryden (Ingrid Craigie). One of them is hiding something.

Also Lena Temple (Siobhán O’Kelly) has a secret from her past that comes out around Episode 4. The trailer hints at it. A letter. A knock on the door. A face from before.

The Season 2 cliffhanger? Someone got arrested for a crime they didn’t commit. Season 3 Episode 1 deals with that immediately. No dragging it out.

Is there a trailer for The Hardacres Season 3?

Not a full one yet. Channel 5 moves slow with this show.

Season 2 trailer dropped 22 days before premiere. Probably the same for Season 3. So late April 2027. Around the 27th or 28th.

There’s a teaser though. Channel 5 released a 45-second spot last week. Shots of the estate in different seasons. Rain. Fog. A single horse standing in a field. Then Mary’s voice: “We built this. No one’s taking it from us.”

No actual dialogue from the new season. Just atmosphere.

The real trailer will show at least three big moments. Channel 5 usually spoils one major plot point in the trailer. So watch with that in mind if you care about surprises.

Keep an eye on Channel 5’s YouTube page. Also their Twitter. The show has a small fanbase but they’re obsessive. The trailer will spread fast.

What to Expect and When?

May 19, 2027. That’s the start.

Channel 5 airs this weekly. One episode every Wednesday at 9 p.m. GMT.

Here’s the full schedule:

  • Episode 1: May 19, 2027
  • Episode 2: May 26, 2027
  • Episode 3: June 2, 2027
  • Episode 4: June 9, 2027
  • Episode 5: June 16, 2027
  • Episode 6: June 23, 2027

Season 2 ended with a character in handcuffs. Episode 1 has to resolve that. Expect the first 15-20 minutes to deal with the fallout. Then the season finds its real direction.

What else to expect:

  • At least one death. Period dramas always kill someone in Season 3.
  • A wedding or a funeral. Maybe both.
  • Someone from the fish dock days shows up unannounced.
  • The youngest kid (Harry) gets more screen time. Zak Ford-Williams is getting older. The writers apparently wrote him a real storyline this time.

When to watch The Hardacres Season 3 on Channel 5

UK viewers: Wednesday, May 19. 9 p.m. GMT on Channel 5. The main channel. Not 5Star or 5USA. Regular Channel 5.

US viewers: 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET. But you can’t get Channel 5 in America. So you need alternatives. See below.

Repeats: Channel 5 repeats each episode the following Sunday afternoon. Usually 2 p.m. GMT. Same episode. Same length. Good for people who miss Wednesdays.

Streaming: Episodes go up on My5 (Channel 5’s free app) immediately after broadcast. Usually within 15 minutes. Free with ads.

Where to watch The Hardacres

In the UK: Channel 5 or My5. Both free. Both easy. My5 has ads but that’s fine.

In Ireland: Same as the UK. Channel 5 is on most Irish cable packages. My5 works in Ireland too.

In the US: This is the annoying part.

The Hardacres doesn’t have a US distributor. Season 1 never landed anywhere. Season 2 didn’t either. Season 3 probably won’t.

Your options:

  • VPN to the UK and watch on My5. Works fine. My5 doesn’t block VPNs aggressively. You need a free account. Worth the two minutes it takes.
  • Wait for PBS or BritBox. No guarantee. Neither has picked up the show. But period dramas do well on both. Could happen eventually. Don’t hold your breath.
  • Buy digital episodes. Channel 5 doesn’t sell them internationally. So not an option.

Canada and Australia: Same problem. No official distributor. VPN is the answer. Set it to the UK. Use My5.

The Hardacres Season 3 premiere date prediction

No prediction needed. May 19 is confirmed.

But why that date?

Channel 5 has owned Wednesdays at 9 p.m. for years. That’s their prestige drama slot. The Hardacres fits perfectly there.

Season 1 premiered May 2024. Season 2 premiered May 2025. Season 3 is May 2027. They skipped 2026 entirely. Production delay or Channel 5 wanted to space out their schedule. No one knows for sure.

May 19 is also after Easter programming and before summer reality TV takes over. Perfect window for a show that doesn’t need blockbuster ratings.

Also worth noting: May 19 is a Wednesday. Channel 5 doesn’t move this show around. It’s been Wednesdays since the beginning.

The Hardacres Season 3 filming locations

Yorkshire. That’s the short answer.

Wentworth Woodhouse in South Yorkshire is the estate. Massive house. One of the biggest in England. The production uses the exterior and some ground floor rooms.

Wentworth has been in other stuff too. The Crown used it. Peaky Blinders used it. The place knows how to handle a film crew.

The fish dock scenes from Season 1 and 2 filmed in Whitby. North Yorkshire coast. Season 3 probably won’t go back there because the family left the docks. But flashbacks are possible. The production keeps the Whitby sets standing just in case.

Interior estate scenes film at a studio in Leeds. Big soundstage. They built the Hardacre family’s living quarters there. The kitchen. The bedrooms. The hallway where all the arguments happen.

New for Season 3: Location shoots in the Yorkshire Dales. The teaser showed open fields. That’s new. Previous seasons stayed mostly in buildings. Season 3 gets outside more.

No filming in Ireland this time. Season 2 had a few days in County Wicklow. Not happening for Season 3. Budget reasons probably.

If you want to visit the locations:

  • Wentworth Woodhouse does tours. Not during active filming though. Check their website before driving out.
  • Whitby is just a normal town. Walk the docks anytime. Nothing’s blocked off.
  • The Leeds studio is not open to the public. Don’t bother.
  • The Dales locations are public land. You can go there. Finding the exact spots is tricky though. The production doesn’t announce them.

Quick recap:

  • Premiere: May 19, 2027
  • Time: 9 p.m. GMT (Channel 5) / 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET
  • Episodes: 6 (55 min each)
  • Full cast back: Claire Cooper, Liam McMahon, Shannon Lavelle, Adam Little, Julie Graham, Ingrid Craigie, Zak Ford-Williams, Siobhán O’Kelly, Mark Doherty, Taheen Modak
  • Where to watch UK: Channel 5 or My5 (free)
  • Where to watch US/Canada/Australia: VPN to UK + My5

Set your reminders. May 19 is closer than it looks.
