D.I. Ray Storyline & Synopsis
Detective Rachita Ray (Parminder Nagra) has unsuccessfully applied numerous times to be a part in the team of detectives that is focused on serious criminals. Now she’s popular, especially when the team, which is strikingly white, is searching for an expert for a murder case within an Asian community. There are tensions because of the insensitive approach to the investigation, which is quickly labelled as ‘culturally particular’ because of how skin-colored the suspect and the victim.
The suspects in this investigation comprise the Kapoor brothers they are believed to have been involved in honor murders. If Rachita begins to investigate but discovers that there are different motives in play. Always ready of a challenge Ray decides to take on the case with determination to discover the culprit while also highlighting the obvious biases her coworkers are bringing into the case. It’s not simple in the least.
The focus on current issues like racism is highly praised. However, it is noted that the series can be slightly slow. The assistance that she got through Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio assures that the show is beautiful and very well-constructed. It’s also a good thing that within the genre of crime, there is more and more space for stories with more variety.
