Justified: City Primeval Storyline & Synopsis
Timothy Olyphant ( Deadwood ) knows he’ll never let go of his reputation as the archetypal cowboy (see the roles he played on The Mandalorian and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood ). This is why he gives to the role, as shown by his return to his most well-known character: Raylan Givens, created by Elmore Leonard.
In City Primeval, the U.S. Marshal as played by Olyphant takes a trip to Detroit and assists police in the pursuit of a wanted criminal known as The Oklahoma Wildman (Boyd Holbrook from The Sandman ). The new location makes Walton Goggins ( The Shield) the unfortunate position of not being able to be portrayed as his legendary “frenemy” Boyd Crowder, but behind the scenes, a number of screenwriters of the first Justified return.
An unintentional encounter on a blue Florida highway takes the driver to Detroit. He meets Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent and sociopathic criminal who’s fallen into the hands of Detroit’s most infamous one and plans to do it once more. Mansell’s lawyer, the formidable Motor City native Carolyn Wilder will be representing her client even though she’s stuck between cop and criminal while playing her own agenda in play too. In traditional Elmore Leonard style, the three characters are to meet to determine who comes to the City Primeval alive.
