“Mindblow” is about Markus (Dimitri Stapfer) who was embarrassed at the age of 20 in the show “Musicstar”. Later, he is struggling with the repercussions of his appearance and became popular for his status as an internet meme. At the age of forty-five, Markus suddenly gets the chance to connect with his younger self through text messages. The protagonist is able to suddenly transform the course of his life.
The notion of reversing the past never escaped his mind. However films like “Back to the Future” were also a source of inspiration. While researching the show, Andreae and the three other authors stumbled upon “Musicstar”.
“Mindblow” is the first Swiss series where artificial intelligence and deep-fake techniques were utilized. The musician Baschi, who was a ex- Musicstar participant Baschi appears in the show. Utilizing real-life fakes that are deep, the Baschi visage taken from old TV footage has been given to new actor. Stapfer as alias Markus was revived for scenes of twenty years ago with the help of AI techniques and make-up artistry techniques.
