The plot revolves around an actual event that saw the hijacking of the plane 601 by two individuals who are demanding for authorities from Colombian government free 50 prisoners of political dissent and release a huge ransom in cash. When they are confronted with the refusal by the political leaders to talk, the perpetrators start to take drastic measures that put the security of the hostages at risk as the plane glides in a haze. With the fear of being killed Captain and 2 Stewards must fight for the return of the hostages in peace and defeat the kidnappers as they negotiate with authorities.
The hijacking from Flight 601 was approved to be eligible for an incentive called the CINA (Audiovisual investment certificate) incentive, which is granted to the Colombian government and managed through Proimagenes Colombia: a tax discount equal to 35% of the cost of audiovisual services in Colombia.
