The show is set over two weeks in August. Hence the title. The heat. The isolation. The feeling of being far from home with nowhere to run. That’s not accidental.

It’s a drama about betrayal. About how well you really know the people you love. About what happens when you find out you don’t know them at all.

Is there a trailer for Two Weeks in August Season 1?

Yes. BBC One released it back in May 2026.

The trailer doesn’t show who kisses who. That’s the point. The mystery is the hook. You spend the whole first episode trying to figure it out.

International trailer: BBC Studios cut a different trailer for North American distribution. Shorter. Sixty seconds. Less subtle. Shows more of the aftermath. Spoils one major twist that the UK trailer kept hidden.

Malta. Not Greece.

The show is set in Greece. The characters go to a Greek island. They talk about Greece. They eat Greek food. But they filmed in Malta. Happens all the time. Malta is cheaper. Has better tax incentives. Looks similar enough that most viewers can’t tell the difference.

Specific locations:

• Gozo, Malta — The main island. Used for the hotel exterior. The beach scenes. The cliff where someone stands and thinks about jumping (they don’t). Gozo is smaller than the main island of Malta. Less crowded. Works for the isolated vibe.
• Comino, Malta — Used for the boat scenes. The characters take a day trip to a smaller island. That’s Comino. Very blue water. Very white sand. Looks like a postcard. Almost fake.
• Valletta, Malta — Used for the airport scenes. The characters arrive. They leave. Valletta has a modern airport. Works for the story. Nothing special.
• Soundstage in Kalkara, Malta — Built the hotel interiors. The bedrooms. The restaurant. The bar where the kiss happens. All on a soundstage. None of it is real.

No filming in Greece. Not a single shot. The producers looked at Greek locations. Too expensive. Too many permits. Too many tourists. Malta was easier.

If you want to visit the locations:

• Gozo is a real island. Take a ferry from Malta. The hotel exterior is a real building. It’s called the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz. You can stay there. Expensive but nice. Worth it for the photos.
• Comino is a real island. Take a boat tour. The water really is that blue. Not edited. Not enhanced.
• Valletta airport is a real airport. Nothing special. Don’t make a trip just for that.
• The Kalkara soundstage is not open to the public. Security. Don’t bother.

The show looks like Greece. That’s what matters. Most viewers won’t know the difference. I’ve been to both. Malta is close enough.
