| When I Said I Do is yet to be announced: Is There going to be a movie of When I Said I Do — ✔️ May 23, 2027 New 🌻 Summer 2026 TV Show Premiere |
When I Said I Do release date
May 23, 2027.
That’s a Sunday. 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
The movie runs 1 hour and 30 minutes. Ninety minutes flat. Standard Lifetime length. Long enough to fall in love. Short enough to watch before dinner.
Sarah Drew leads this one. She’s been in everything. Grey’s Anatomy. Cruel Summer. A bunch of Hallmark movies. This is her first Lifetime drama. Different vibe. Less sweet. More real.
Eric Johnson is the male lead. Fifty Shades fans know him. Rookie Blue fans too. He plays the wounded rescue specialist who doesn’t want to open up. You know the type.
Hattie Kragten plays the daughter. She was in Odd Squad and The Boys. Young but experienced. Holds her own against Sarah Drew.
What is When I Said I Do about?
Here’s the setup.
Ali Corley (Sarah Drew) is a K-9 handler. Her husband was a cop. Died on duty. Left her with a daughter and a broken heart.
She rebuilt her life. Devoted to family. Devoted to her job. She’s good at both. But love? That door is closed. She’s not walking through it again.
Then she meets Shawn Willis (Eric Johnson). Rescue specialist. He pulls people from burning buildings and floodwaters. He’s good at his job because he’s good at keeping distance. Emotions get in the way. He learned that the hard way.
They meet on a call. A bad one. Someone trapped somewhere. Ali’s dog finds them. Shawn gets them out. They work well together. Too well.
Shawn asks her out. She says no. He asks again. She says maybe. He asks again. She says yes. Slowly. Reluctantly. Like someone who’s afraid to hope.
The movie follows them trying to build something while their jobs keep trying to tear it apart. Ali’s daughter Olivia (Hattie Kragten) wants her mom to be happy but also doesn’t want to lose her again. Shawn has his own past. Someone he couldn’t save. He doesn’t talk about it.
The title refers to the wedding vows. When Ali said “I do” the first time, she meant it. Can she say it again to someone else? That’s the question the movie asks.
Standard Lifetime romance but with real stakes. The dog is in multiple scenes. Yes, the dog is fine. No, the dog doesn’t die. Lifetime knows their audience.
Will the movie be released in theaters or on streaming?
No theaters. This is a TV movie. Lifetime original.
It premieres on Lifetime cable. Then streaming after that.
So May 23 is the cable premiere. If you have Lifetime in your cable package, you watch it there.
If you don’t have cable? You need a live TV streaming service that includes Lifetime. Philo has it. Sling has it in some packages. Frndly TV has it. Hulu + Live TV has it but that’s expensive.
Some people confuse Lifetime with Hallmark. Different channels. Different vibes. Lifetime is more drama. Hallmark is more pure romance. This one leans Lifetime.
How can I watch When I Said I Do?
In the US with cable: Lifetime. Channel finder on their website tells you which number. Usually around 250 on most providers. Sometimes lower. Depends on your area.
In the US without cable: Live TV streaming services.
- Philo — $25/month. Has Lifetime. Cheapest option.
- Frndly TV — $7.99/month. Has Lifetime. Even cheaper but fewer other channels.
- Sling — $40/month. Lifetime is in the “Lifestyle Extra” package. Not in base.
- Hulu + Live TV — $77/month. Has Lifetime. Expensive unless you already have it.
On demand after premiere: Lifetime puts movies on their website and app a few days after airing. Usually within 48 hours. You need a cable login though. Or a subscription to something like Philo that gives you app access.
Rent or buy: Not available at launch. Lifetime movies sometimes show up on Amazon or Apple TV weeks later. Not always. This one might. Sarah Drew has fans who will buy it.
No Disney+. Not on Netflix. Not on Prime (except through channels). Lifetime has its own ecosystem.
When does When I Said I Do come out?
May 23, 2027. Sunday afternoon.
1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET.
Sunday afternoon is a weird time for a romance movie. Lifetime usually does these at 8 p.m. But May 23 is a specific date. Maybe they’re programming against something. Maybe they’re testing afternoon audiences.
If you miss the premiere, Lifetime repeats movies multiple times. Check the schedule for later that evening or the next day. They’ll probably air it again at 8 p.m. the same Sunday. That’s how they usually operate.
Streaming on Lifetime app: Available 48 hours after premiere. So May 25. Requires cable login.
No on-demand purchase at launch. Maybe later. Maybe not.
How to watch from Canada
Canadians have options.
Lifetime is available in Canada on most cable packages. Same channel name. Same schedule. So May 23 at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT works the same way.
No cable in Canada? StackTV has Lifetime. That’s through Amazon Prime Channels. Subscription needed but there’s a free trial usually.
Also on CTV Drama channel. Sometimes. Not always. Check local listings.
Streaming: The Lifetime app works in Canada but requires a Canadian cable login. Same as the US.
Forget the VPN workaround. You don’t need it. The movie airs in Canada legitimately.
When I Said I Do trailers and clips
Full trailer dropped two weeks ago. Lifetime put it on their YouTube channel.
One minute and thirty seconds. Shows Sarah Drew running with a German Shepherd. Shows Eric Johnson looking concerned. Shows them kissing in the rain. Shows them fighting in a kitchen. Shows them making up in a different kitchen.
Standard Lifetime trailer. It shows too much. That’s what they do. If you want to go in fresh, skip it.
There are also three TV spots. Fifteen seconds each. Airing during daytime talk shows. Targeted at the demographic. Safe to watch. No major spoilers.
Behind-the-scenes clip: Lifetime released a 60-second featurette last week. Sarah Drew talking about working with the dog. The dog’s name is Ranger. He’s a rescue. Very good boy. That’s the whole clip.
Search “When I Said I Do Lifetime 2027” on YouTube. The trailer has about 500,000 views. Not huge. Lifetime movies don’t need millions of views. Their audience watches on cable.
No post-credits scene. This isn’t Marvel. The movie ends. Credits roll. That’s it.
When I Said I Do cast
Here’s the full cast:
- Sarah Drew as Ali Corley (the K-9 handler, widow, mom)
- Eric Johnson as Shawn Willis (the rescue specialist)
- Hattie Kragten as Olivia (Ali’s daughter)
- Lisa Hartman Black as Self – Podcast Host
- Jayne Heitmeyer as Dale Redder
- Kathryn Greenwood as Linda
- Clint Black as Self – Podcast Host
- Mark Ballantyne as Ben
- Ronnie Rowe Jr. as Brett
- Sarah Camacho as Betty
- Sara Faisal as Waitress
- Wes Malik as Dr. Warren
Sarah Drew is the reason most people will watch. She’s been in this space for years. Hallmark. Lifetime. She knows how to play the wounded but strong woman. The dog helps.
Eric Johnson is the male lead. He’s played love interests before. He knows the assignment. Be handsome. Be wounded. Be worth waiting for. He does all three.
Hattie Kragten plays the daughter. She’s the emotional core of the movie. Her character wants her mom to be happy but is terrified of losing her to another man. That’s a lot for a young actor. She pulls it off.
Lisa Hartman Black and Clint Black play themselves. Real life married couple. Country singers. They host a podcast in the movie. Ali listens to it. It gives her advice at key moments. It’s cute. Not cheesy.
Jayne Heitmeyer plays Dale Redder. The antagonist. Not a villain. Just someone who doesn’t think Ali should be dating again. She says things that are mean but not wrong. That’s good writing.
Kathryn Greenwood plays Linda. The best friend. The one who pushes Ali to say yes to the date. Every romance movie needs this character. She does it well.
Ronnie Rowe Jr. plays Brett. Ali’s partner on the job. He’s protective of her. Not in a romantic way. In a brother way. He’s the one who vets Shawn.
Sarah Camacho, Sara Faisal, Wes Malik have small roles. Waitress. Doctor. Minor characters. They do their jobs. The movie moves on.
When I Said I Do filming locations
Ontario, Canada. Mostly around Toronto.
The movie filmed in early 2027. Probably January and February based on the production notices. Cold months. They needed winter scenery.
Specific locations:
- Hamilton, Ontario — Used for the exterior shots of Ali’s house. A real neighborhood. Real houses. The production rented one house for two weeks.
- Toronto — Interior scenes at a studio in the east end. The K-9 training facility. Shawn’s apartment. The hospital. All built on soundstages.
- Dundas, Ontario — Used for the park scenes. Ali walks her dog there. Meets Shawn there. Has a breakdown there. It’s a real park. Very pretty.
- Burlington, Ontario — The rescue scenes. A warehouse district. They staged a collapsed building scenario. Fake rubble. Fake smoke. Real cold.
- Oakville, Ontario — The coffee shop where Ali and Shawn have their first real conversation. It’s a real coffee shop. They filmed overnight. The owners got paid. The coffee shop is still there.
No US locations. The movie is set in an unnamed American city. But filmed entirely in Canada. Cheaper. Also Sarah Drew has worked in Canada before. She knows the crews.
If you want to visit the locations:
- Hamilton neighborhood is residential. Be respectful if you go.
- The Toronto studio is not open to the public.
- Dundas park is public. Go for a walk. Bring a dog if you have one.
- The Burlington warehouse district is industrial. Nothing to see now. They cleaned up.
- The Oakville coffee shop is real. Go get coffee. Ask about the movie. They might remember.
The movie looks like it cost about $2.5 million. Standard for Lifetime. Not cheap but not Hollywood. The locations are chosen for practicality, not glamour. That’s fine. Romance doesn’t need glamour. It needs real.
