What is “Castle Impossible” Season 3 about?

Here’s the setup.

Daphne Reckert and Ian Figueira. High school sweethearts. Married. They were planning to live in a tiny home in California. Then Daphne’s grandfather died. He left her a chateau. A real one. 500 years old. 130 acres. Just outside Paris.

King Louis XIII once visited. That’s how old it is.

The main floor was already renovated. Daphne’s grandfather did that. It hosts weddings. That brings in money. Enough to live on. Not enough to fix everything else.

The rest of the chateau is a disaster. Rotting floors. Bug infestations. Roofs that look like Swiss cheese. Outbuildings that are collapsing.

Season 1 was about moving in. Discovering the problems. Crying a lot.

Season 2 was about the weddings. Making the main floor perfect. Getting the business running.

Season 3 is about the impossible stuff.

The projects in Season 3:

• The north wing. Completely untouched since the 1800s. No electricity. No plumbing. Floors are gone in some rooms. The team has to rebuild from the studs. Except there are no studs. It’s stone. Stone walls. Stone floors. Stone everything.
• The outbuildings. There are six of them. A barn. A carriage house. A gardener’s cottage. A stable. A wine cellar (empty). A chapel. The chapel is the priority. Daphne wants to get married there. She already had a civil ceremony. She wants the real thing. In the chapel. By the end of the season.
• The roof. The whole roof. It’s leaking in seventeen places. The estimate was €500,000. They don’t have €500,000. They have to do it themselves. With help from Ian’s dad. Who is a roofer. That’s not a coincidence.
• The hidden treasure. Daphne’s grandfather left a clue. A riddle. “Where the sun sets on the oldest stone, you’ll find what I’ve always owned.” Season 3 follows them trying to solve it. The treasure is real. The production team verified it. They don’t reveal what it is until the finale.

Then quick cuts. Ian on a ladder. Daphne crying. A wall coming down. A wedding happening. Then the treasure hunt. Daphne holding an old key. Ian digging in the garden. A metal box. Then the title card.

The trailer doesn’t show what’s in the box. That’s the hook.

HGTV also released individual clips:

• It’s in the Île-de-France region. That’s the region around Paris.
• It’s near a town with a train station. The town has a bakery. Daphne goes there every morning.
• The estate is 130 acres. Woods. Fields. A river. A pond. The pond is where Ian proposed. (Before the show. Not on camera.)

What we don’t know:

• The name of the chateau.
• The name of the town.
• The exact coordinates.

The production team: HGTV sends a crew of about 15 people. They stay in a nearby hotel. They film for three months. They come back every year. Daphne and Ian have gotten used to them.
