Little Bird Storyline & Synopsis
Removing her home in the Long Pine reserve in Saskatchewan, Bezhig Little Bird was adopted by a Montreal Jewish family at the age of five. She later changed her name to Esther Rosenblum. At the age of 20 Bezhig has a dream to find her family that she lost and she’s willing to give up anything to achieve it. Her search leads Bezhig to Canada’s Canadian Prairies, a world entirely different from what she’s familiar with.
The six-episode limited series explores universal themes of resilience in the context of trauma and loss. The story follows Little Bird, played by Bezhig Little Bird, who tries to locate his biological family in order to find out what is true about his family’s background. Produced by Contois this drama based on characters series has a cast of skilled Indigenous actors.
The series takes us in the 1960s of the last decade when Bezhig Little Bird, five years old, is ripped away from Long Pine Reserve and is adopted by a Jewish family from Montreal who change her name to Esther Rosenblum. Bezhig, who is in her 20s, is as she makes the decision to locate her birth family and go on a journey to the Canadian Prairies to unravel the mystery of her adoption.
